Pareto Fundraising’s management and consultancy team consists of senior members of staff, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning – providing vision and leadership for the company and our clients alike.

Martin Paul.png Martin Paul

Where does Martin live? Sydney, Australia

What does he do? Acting Chief Operating Officer and Senior Consultant

With a commercial marketing background and 17 years leading charity marketing and fundraising teams Martin has a wealth of experience in all aspects of strategic planning. He has completed strategic plans for organisations such as the Cancer Council in NSW and Nationally (Organisational 5 year plan; Bequests; Events; Daffodil Day; Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea); the Heart Foundation ( Organisational Marketing and Fundraising Strategy; Community Fundraising Strategy; Jump Rope for Heart); the National Trust UK (Supporter Fundraising Strategy) and WWF-UK (Regional local groups fundraising plans).

Recently martin has commissioned and utilised extensive research into bequest behaviour as part of the multi-charity “Include a Charity” campaign which he instigated in November 2006.

Martin has worked with Boards, corporate partners, local fundraising groups and volunteers to achieve organisational change through strategy. He has an Economics Degree, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing; is a graduate of the Institute of Company Directors and recently completed an 8 month social leadership program run by the Benevolent Society.

Martin is a popular and renowned trainer and presenter at Fundraising Institute of Australia conferences and programs. Martin joined Pareto Fundraising in February 2008.

Where does Dan live? Sydney, Australia

What does he do? Group Account Director and Creative Planner

Dan is a Direct Marketing Professional with over ten years experience.  He has post-graduate qualifications in applied psychology, direct marketing and e-marketing, and has been commended by the British and Australian Direct Marketing Associations.

For the last six years Dan has been passionately creating innovative ways to communicate with charity supporters.  He has a proven track record of developing and implementing new ideas for UK and Australian charities such as Amnesty International Australia, The Heart Foundation, Sydney Opera House and Medecins Sans Frontieres Australia.

As well as Account Directing, Dan is also Pareto Fundraising’s Creative Planner. As such, he is charged with leading the ongoing search for ever better ways to use copy, design and creative ideas to connect people who care with those who need help.

Where does Fiona live? Wanaka, New Zealand

What does she do? Head of Data Services

Fiona is a Fundraising and Direct Marketing professional with more than nine years experience helping to find, keep and grow donors through the expert management of strategic fundraising and database marketing programs.

Formerly the supporter relations manager with WWF Australia, Fiona now works with charities such as Children’s Cancer Institute Australia, Australia for UNHCR and National Heart Foundation Australia. 

In her role as Account Director with Pareto Fundraisng, Fiona has spent her career working to increase income and donor retention through the development and implementation of data lead fundraising programs.

As Pareto Fundraising’s Head of Data Services, Fiona ensures we maintain the highest possible level of service for our clients, as well as developing exciting new data insights so that we can provide even more help for our clients’ beneficiaries in the future.

Fiona has extensive experience in managing, monitoring and evaluating fundraising programs across a range of charities and has been with Pareto Fundraising since February 2004.

Where does Olivia live? Sydney, Australia


What does she do? Head of Business and Marketing

Over the past 14 years Olivia has attained a wealth of marketing and communication experience both in the UK and Australia.  Before moving to Sydney two years ago, she headed up the national marketing and events program at the UK’s largest mental health charity, Mind.

Since her arrival in Australia, Olivia has been working as Fundraising Development Manager at Pareto Fundraising where Olivia has been responsible for developing and implementing cutting edge new fundraising products, such as the survey and online fundraising.

Over the past two years Olivia has worked with many charities of all shapes and sizes including the National Heart Foundation, Amnesty International, Lost Dogs’ Home, WWF and Children’s Cancer Research Institute - all who have successful fundraising and donor care programmes.

In June 07, Olivia’s role at Pareto expanded to head up the New Business and Marketing department. Her new responsibilities include reaching out to brilliant charities throughout Australia and beyond, explaining what we do and making sure as many benefit from our skills and expertise as possible.

Where does Jonathon live? Toronto, Canada

What does he do? Regional Director

Jonathon has around nine years experience in the direct marketing and fundraising sector working in successful agencies both in Australia and the UK. Jonathon used to head Pareto Fundraising’s Melbourne office as an Account Director for almost 3 years working on clients as as the Australian Conservation Foundation, The Cancer Council Victoria, Scope, Plan and The Lost Dogs' Home.

Jonathon now heads up our new North American office as Regional Director North America.

Jonathon has been involved in the shaping and development of many large and very successful fundraising programs for clients including the NSPCC in the UK as well as the National Heart Foundation of Australia and the Australian Conservation Foundation in Australia.

Many of the campaigns Jonathon has been responsible for have been award winning including a UK DMA Award for his involvement in the NSPCC’s inactive committed campaign (2002) and an International ECHO award for the National Heart Foundation Spring Appeal 2006.

Jonathon was involved in the development and managing of UK agency Pell & Bales’ inaugural mystery shopping project in 2002 as well as setting up a similar project with Pareto Fundraising in 2005. These projects looked at benchmarking levels of customer care provided by UK, Australian and NZ non-profits. The headline results were presented to the sector and to individual charities, many whom made immediate changes to their customer care program.

Where does Christiana live? Brisbane
What does she do? General Manager

An experienced charity fundraiser for over 10 years, Christiana crossed to the agency “dark side” and has been with Pareto Fundraising since May 2007. Based in our Hong Kong office, she is now helping charities in the Asian region to achieve brilliant fundraising results. Her clients include MSF Hong Kong, Hong Kong Cancer Fund and WWF Malaysia.

As Pareto Fundraising’s General Manager, Christiana has responsibility for extending the advantages of the Pareto Fundraising approach to charities who are not yet working with us, and whose efforts to improve the world would benefit from an increase in revenue.

Christiana is also an expert in bequest marketing, having honed her skills as Bequest Manager at the National Heart Foundation of Australia and, more recently, Mission Australia.

As a speaker and presenter, Christiana isn’t afraid of controversy and challenging her audience. Happy to tell fundraisers why they are wasting their time, she is entertaining and fresh.

Where does Gavin live? Sydney, Australia

What does he do? Senior Consultant

Gavin has a broad range of experience from a long career in the Australian and UK not-for-profit sector - including over a decade as a senior manager. He has been responsible for driving marketing strategies and brand development for a number of charities as well as being a internationally recognized expert in corporate partnerships. His last role in the UK before moving back to Australia last year was as Development Director at Cancer Research UK - Britain’s leading charity. In this role he was responsible for managing and developing the organizations brand as well as creating an Innovation process to deliver new fundraising activities.

Having responsibility for the development and management of Cancer Research UK’s brand include being responsible for:

  • Commissioning qualitative and quantitative research to help define consumer insights  
  • Consulting across the organisation to develop an agreed brand essence
  • Developing management systems and processes to oversee the delivery of the brand

As a Senior Consultant at Pareto Fundraising Gavin leads the Consulting team and has advised charities on strategic brand development and specific fundraising activities including corporate partnerships and major donor strategy and coaching with CEOs and Board members.
